We’re getting somewhere!
The response to our interest survey has been gradually picking up speed, and we are beginning to look seriously into how to get this all started!
One of our major obstacles right now is funding. Buying music rights, instruments, and uniforms all cost money. We are doing our best to keep Lavender Guard accessible to as many people as possible, so we are looking into income sources that don’t place burden on members who already struggling financially.
To that end, we have launched a donation site! If you stroll on over to https://givebutter.com/lavguard, you can donate a single time or set up recurring payments. We’d appreciate any help we can get, including just spreading the word around that we’re accepting donations. Thanks, everyone!
We could also use volunteers! If you are at all interested in helping with any of the following duties below, please fill out the interest form in our About page.
- Development (getting the program up and running)
- Administration (Board of Directors)
- Pre-production (arranging music, designing drill, writing choreography, designing uniform/flags)
- Instruction (Section Leaders, Drum Major, Guard Instructor)
- Public Relations (coordinating rehearsal spaces, photography, communicating with event leadership)
- Equipment Management (managing storage and transport)
- Safety (providing first aid when necessary, managing safety protocols)
- Set-up and Take-down (for either rehearsals and events)
- Fundraising (strategizing and planning events)
- Recruiting (outreach to groups and people who might be interested in joining)
Lastly, we could really use your support in finding rehearsal space. If you happen to be connected to an organization with a space where over a dozen folks can rehearse loud music, please reach out to us at our email (lavenderqueertet@gmail.com).
Thank you all for your help along this journey. I am incredibly excited to see where this all goes and what comes next! Take care!
